The Accidental Runner

Oh my gosh...I can't believe it has been so long since I've blogged! I spent most of the summer running 2 to 3 5k's a week and am so thankful that I have still been able to run outside all the way through November. Not quite as much as during the summer though due to my starting a part time job but I'm still running at least one 5k a week. I achieved a new personal best time this past Thursday (Thanksgiving). I ran the NCMC Turkey Trot 5k in 34:01. It felt pretty good!

Feeling tired but still running...
Wow! It has been a while since I've blogged. I have still been running. Working my way back to a 5k distance which I accomplished Friday of last week. That is a good thing because I am entered in two upcoming 5k's. One a week from today (Grand Olde West Days Fun Run) and the other on June 11th. Since the one on Monday has hills in the route I decided I'd better get my body ready to run some hills. I ran (and walked a bit) a 2.5 mile route today that had a couple killer hills. I learned that it is not the end of the world to walk a bit up the hills and that it takes a great bit of mental fortitude to get yourself running again after walking!! LOL But I did it!

10 minute mile? Yep!!
I think I just ran a 10 minute mile! That has been one of my goals since I began running. I ran 1.5 miles in 15 minutes so that means at 10 minutes I had run 1 mile right?!? Yay!!!! The way this came about was that I had to drop my van off at Chapman's Auto this morning so I just ran home from there. It took me 15 minutes and according to runningmap.com the distance is 1.46 miles (close enough to 1.5 for me). I am so happy!!

Making my own sunshine...
This morning I was grumping about the fact that I am sick of this cloudy weather and that I'd rather run when the sun is shining. Terry said I would just have to make my own sunshine. So I did! I ran 2.38 miles in 30 minutes and I feel great!

Treadmill Running...
The weather was nice and sunny this morning but by the time I was ready to run it had clouded over and the wind was blowing so I decided to run on the treadmill. I added a new element to my run I watched Dancing With the Stars while running. This was awesome! My time on the treadmill is always slow, usually about a mile in 17 minutes. Today, with the distraction, I ran a 15 minute mile!! Yay!
